It's not surprising the state that touts its bigness also has dozens of residents with some of the biggest net worths.
According to Bloomberg's Billionaires Index, 27 Texans were listed among the world's wealthiest individuals after Charles Butt of the H-E-B family returned to the list on Monday morning with a net worth of $13.3 billion, claiming the No. 159 spot.
The index ranks the 500 individuals globally with the highest net worths; to qualify for the list, individuals must have a net worth exceeding $5.7 billion.
Among the notable individuals on the list are prominent sports businessmen Mark Cuban and Jerry Jones, Alice Walton of the Walmart family, and Dallas-based philanthropist Margot Perot.

Claiming the third spot overall, Elon Musk emerged as the Texan with the highest wealth, trailing only Bernard Arnault of Louis Vuitton and Jeff Bezos of Amazon.
Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, SpaceX and X (formerly Twitter), has a net worth of $187 billion. In 2021, he sold his mansions in California and moved into a tiny prefabricated home in Boca Chica, Texas, where his SpaceX Starbase is located.
