Elementary students hold fundraiser for Sudan
UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio (WCMH) – A fundraiser by local children will impact families thousands of miles away.
Today, fifth graders at Barrington Elementary School in Upper Arlington presented a check to a charity that helps people in war-torn Sudan.

Students held what they call a ‘coin war’ for the Buckeye Clinic of South Sudan — led by a former Sudanese refugee who found a new home in Columbus.
In just a few days, the kids raised more than $2,500 for the Buckeye Clinic. It helps families who have been displaced by a year of civil war in Sudan and who are now in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. The kids also learned a valuable lesson in the process.
President of the Buckeye Clinic of South Sudan Bol Aweng said this fundraiser has helped students expand their knowledge outside of the United States and outside of their neighborhoods.
“Just be thankful for what you have and like when you get it because a lot of people in other places don’t have what you probably have,” said fifth-grader Vivienne.
