Election Day Tuesday: Voters to decide select board, school committee races

Mar. 21—Andover voters will have plenty of options when they head to the polls Tuesday.

Residents will be electing two Select Board members and two School Committee members. They will a choice of voting for two from the four Select Board candidates seeking seat and two from a field of five shooting for the School Committee.

Polls will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Ellen Townson, George Thorlin, Kevin Coffee and Ellen Keller are running for Select Board. While Jayashree Mohandas, Lauren Rossi Diffenbach, Shauna Murray, Susan McCready and Chris Shepley are running for School Committee.

Voters will also be able to write-in candidates for each position.

There are three different polling locations across town:

* Precincts 1 and 3: Youth Center, 40 Whittier Court,

* Precincts 4, 4A, 5 and 6: Wood Hill Middle School, 11 Cross St,

* Precincts 2, 7, 8, 9 and 10: Andover High School, Richard J. Collins Field House, 80 Shawsheen Road.

Residents will also be voting on a number of other positions inside of town.

Longtime Town Moderator Sheila Doherty is running unopposed for reelection. Town moderators are elected annually and oversee Town Meeting and Special Town Meeting.

Likewise William Walsh is running opposed for a five-year term on the Housing Authority. The Housing Authority oversees a program that offers affordable housing to families, seniors and disabled people.

Anne Marie Faris will be running for the town's School Committee representative for the Greater Lawrence Technical School.

Michele Ippolito Karlberg and Eric Stubenhaus are running for two seats on the Trustees of the Punchard Free School. Trustees are in charge of dispersing funds both to teachers for projects and students for scholarships. The trust was created by in 1850 through the will of Benjamin Punchard, a local industrialist, according to the town's website.

Mail-in early voting ballots must be received by the town by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
