Eight arrested for alleged retail theft at Walmart

HAZLE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) —   State police report that eight people were arrested after being accused of retail thefts at a Walmart in Luzerne County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, troopers responded to Walmart in Hazle Township for separate retail theft incidents throughout February and March.

On February 24 around 11:00 p.m., troopers were called for a reported retail theft. Police say a 50-year-old woman from Mount Carmel entered Walmart and swapped multiple price tags with lower value onto higher valued items.

Then on February 27 around 10:40 p.m., troopers were called to arrest a 25-year-old woman from Hazleton City who stole $78.29 worth of items.

Five arrested for alleged retail theft at Walmart

Two days later on February 29 around 4:30 p.m., police said a 26-year-old woman from Beaver Medows stole $143.54 worth of clothing. Then four hours later at 8:40 p.m. troopers returned to Walmart after they said a 25-year-old man from Hazleton stole $148.36 worth of magic cards and hygiene products. Lastly at 11:00 p.m., the same day a 19-year-old woman from Hazleton was caught committing a retail theft.

PSP stated on March 2 around 7:00 p.m., troopers were called for a 24-year-old man from Hazleton stealing a cellphone.

One day later on March 3 around 7:45 p.m., troopers stated an 18-year-old girl from Berwick failed to pay for several food items worth $62.29.

Then on March 5 around 11:00 p.m., PSP said a 21-year-old woman from Hazleton was found stealing $123.24 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

All eight suspects have been charged through the district court.
