Effingham starts new program to reimburse home rehab in TIF districts
EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WCIA) — The City of Effingham has introduced a new program to help support housing redevelopment projects in Central and Industrial Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts.
The Tax Increment Financing Housing Redevelopment Program can reimburse 25% of home redesign, rehabilitation, repair, or reconstruction funds up to $25,000. Only homeowners within TIF districts are eligible. A TIF district map can be viewed online.

To be accepted into the program, the resident must also:
Have residential property which generates real estate taxes
Have no taxes or fees owed to the City of Effingham or the state
Complete a letter of application to the City Council
Complete a program agreement that says the housing redevelopment project will be consistent with the Program Plan approved by the City Council
