Educator of the Week: Mr. Rambonga of Parlier High School

PARLIER, Calif. (KSEE) – A criminal justice teacher from Parlier High School is helping students who may want to enter into the crime investigation field.

Barry Rambonga is giving his junior class all the tools and skills if one day they want to pursue a career in criminal justice.

“One day when you call 911, one of these students might be the one taking the call. The officer that’s responding or the deputy that’s responding might be one of the students,” Rambonga said.

Students are getting hands-on experience such as taking trips to the courthouse and speaking with real-life attorneys. In return, it teaches them real environmental situations they may encounter in the profession.

“So that way, when they move on they can go to the academy, they can go to their careers and have that experience of dealing with people,” Rambonga said.

His students enjoy his hard work and dedication in helping them get a kick-start to their future.

“He’s a very interactive person. No matter who you are, he always tries to have that personal bond relationship with you, and he’s a fun guy to be around,” said Ramiro Rodriguez, a junior in his class.

Students will then take the skills they’ve learned to local colleges.

“We have one at Fresno City, we have one at Reedley College, and our students will compete in a CSI physical agility obstacle course and just seeing how well they do, and showcase their skills. I really enjoy seeing that,” Rambonga said.

Jesus Gomez, a junior in his class, is thankful for everything his teacher has taught him this school year.

“Overall, he is just a man with integrity, and it shows that he cares about the students,” Gomez said.
