Edgefield Co. man charged with Murder

EDGEFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – An Edgefield County man has been charged with Murder in regards to the shooting death on May Street in Johnston, South Carolina.

According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Department (SLED), Quenell Marquis Anderson, 37, was charged with Murder on Wednesday, March 20th after being apprehended in Upper Marlboro, MD, with the assistance from the Maryland State Police and the Prince George County Police Department.

According to the warrant, on March 2nd, Ricky Martin, Jr., 35, of Sumter, S.C. was shot multiple times with a firearm, and Anderson was positively identified as the individual who shot Martin as well as other evidence obtained during the SLED Investigation.

According to SLED, Roscoe Pough, Jr., 37, was previously charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder on March 4th after SLED was called in by the Johnston Police Department to investigate the death of Martin, who was later identified by the Edgefield County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities state that Anderson was booked at the Edgefield County Detention Center and is being housed in the Newberry County Detention Center.
