Whitney Dean and Zack Hudson have regained custody of their foster daughter Britney Wainwright in EastEnders.

Viewers recently learned that Whitney hadn't been legally fostering Britney as she'd claimed — instead, she'd paid Britney's mum Keeley under the table in order to bring her to Walford from Milton Keynes.

Britney had been taken into the custody of social services until they could figure out the truth of Whitney's arrangement with the child's mother.

Earlier this week, Bianca also discovered Zack had kissed Whitney's best friend Lauren and threatened to tell Whit the truth... unless Zack could bring Britney back home.

Zack and Bianca were able to track Keeley down in Wednesday's (May 1) episode, but a meeting between them at Walford East was explosive.

Keeley nearly walked out of the showdown within seconds after Bianca accused her of selling her missing phone to buy more drugs.

Zack tried to talk Keeley round and urged her to tell social services that their arrangement for Britney's custody was "all above board".

"I'm going to call the social and tell them to find Britney somewhere else to live," Keeley threatened.

Bianca couldn't help herself, accusing Keeley of being a terrible mother. After Keeley walked out, Zack blamed Bianca for ruining their chance of sorting out the custody dispute.

Zack later met with Keeley on his own at the Vic, where Zack encouraged her to give Britney a different upbringing than the one she had by letting her stay with Whitney.

"With me and Whit, we can be there for Brit so she can get help and then someday, without the worry and stress of having to bring her up, you can get the help you need too and somewhere down the line you can be there for her," Zack assured Keeley.

"It ain't too late, Keeley. You just got to make the right call. Get her home to us."

Back at home, Whitney was in the middle of a row with Bianca over Zack when he suddenly arrived with Britney, her social worker, and Keeley.

The social worker revealed that Keeley had vouched for the agreement to let Britney stay with Whitney and Zack, so they'd need to work out the details.

As they shared a hug, Britney joked to Whitney: "You can't get rid of me that easily."

But will Bianca tell Whitney the truth about Zack and Lauren?

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
