Upon arrival at the scene, Gerdes said officers were told that there were two cars next to each other and that an occupant in one of the vehicles possibly waved a handgun, but when officers arrived, the cars left.

Officers were briefly pursuing one of the cars involved before calling it off and heading back to the mall to contact witnesses.

Shortly after, the crash happened at East Kellogg Drive and South Oliver Avenue.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash. Only one of the cars was involved in the earlier call.

Three people were taken to a hospital. Gerdes says two of them were suspects who were involved in the first call and that one of them was only able to get out of the car after jaws of life were used.

The area of Oliver and East Kellogg Drive was temporarily blocked off. It reopened at 2:45 p.m.
