TYLER, Texas (KETK) – With primary votes counted, Texans now have an idea what will be on the November ballot.

March 5 Election Results

“Driving people to the polls is the return of the head-to-head competition between Biden and Trump,” Dr. Steven Galatas, SFA University associate professor of political science, said.

Galatas shared that both parties are motivated by the race for the White House and Congress.

“Democrats have been energized with the last several cycles with this idea of the blue wave but let’s also remember that Texas is still a solely Republican state and that ‘Red wall’ of support isn’t showing a whole lot of signs cracking at this point,” Galatas said.

Rep. Nathaniel Moran said it is ultimately up to voters to decide the direction our country goes in.

“Contest between two very divergent views of where this nation needs to go. The republican view, which is freedom and individual liberty, returning right back to the states, securing our border versus what we’re seeing under Biden’s administration with open borders and policies of not following the rule of law,” Moran said.

Smith County Republican Chair David Stein, who won his race Tuesday night, explained why it’s important for all East Texans to cast their ballot.

In a sharp reversal, North Texas voters pick Brent Money over Jill Dutton in House GOP primary

“We need the rural voters to come out much bigger to counteract what happens in the cities,” Stein said.

With Democrats holding on to a fragile majority in the Senate, one race that is sure to get national attention is the one between Senator Ted Cruz and Democratic U.S. Representative Colin Allred from Dallas.

In the meantime, experts ask voters to do their research and vote their conscience.

“Hopefully in November whether or not when we can shift the presidency from the Biden administration to a republican administration that’s what we need to see we need the house, senate, and presidency in November to really make the change we need here in the united states,” Moran said.
