SPENCER — At an Earth Day event on a farm in Spencer Monday, clients and staff from the Center of Hope Foundation in Southbridge helped with cleanup.

The farm's bordering woods and wetlands were used as a dump for residents in the 1950s and 1960s, and every year there is a new crop of trash of mostly glass bottles and rusty cans to collect.

Clients from the Center of Hope spend two days a week at the farm as part of a work program, but helped with a special cleanup day Monday for Earth Day, along with students in the environmental sciences vocational program at David Prouty High School.
