Early voting underway

May 6—Whitfield County Supervisor of Elections Shaynee Bryson said 904 people voted last week in the general primary and nonpartisan elections. That was the first week of early voting for the May 21 elections and included voting on Saturday.

For comparison, 850 voted in the first week of advance voting in the 2022 general primary and nonpartisan elections.

"We are expecting higher turnout in the coming weeks, the closer we get to Election Day on (May 21)," she said.

Early voting continues on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, May 17, in the elections office in the county courthouse, 205 N. Selvidge St. in Dalton.

There will be extended hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 16. Early voting will also take place on Saturday, May 11, at the courthouse from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
