Early-morning Belmont shooting leaves man with life-threatening injuries: Police

BELMONT, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the Belmont Police Department.

Around 6 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to 23 Alice Ave, Apt. 7, for reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found a 38-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Investigators believe this was not a random act of violence and that this incident was between two people who knew each other.

Detectives are still investigating the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sergeant Valverde with the Belmont Police Department at 704-825-3792 or Crime Stoppers at 704-861-8000.
