Dune prequel series gets first-look teaser
Prequel series Dune: Prophecy has released a first-look teaser trailer.
The show, which will air on Max later this year, will take place 10,000 years before the events of the popular films – which are based on the novel by Frank Herbert.
First announced in 2019, the series is inspired by Herbert’s novel Sisterhood of Dune and was originally titled Dune: Sisterhood, before being renamed Dune: Prophecy last year.

Now, the six-part series, starring Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, has released an exciting new teaser trailer ahead of its release, which you can see above.
Dune: Prophecy follows sisters Tula (Williams) and Valya (Watson) Harkonnen, and focuses on how they established the fabled Bene Gesserit.
In the trailer, Valya says in a voiceover: "10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides, before the universe would know us as the Bene Gesserit, we founded a sisterhood, assigned to the Great Houses to help them sift truth from lies.

"We created a network of influence throughout the Imperium. But power comes with a price."
The trailer gives a taste of the show’s action sequences, as well as the tension between the leading female characters.
The clip concludes with Valya proclaiming: “Sisterhood above all.”
The series also stars the likes of Mark Strong, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, as well as Line of Duty’s Shalom Brune-Franklin.

Dune: Prophecy has undergone a number of changes during production, most notably that Shirley Henderson, who was originally due to play Tula, left the project, with Williams stepping into her role.
Diane Ademu-John, who created the series and wrote the pilot script, dropped out too, leaving Alison Schapker as the sole showrunner. Chernobyl’s Johan Renck, who was going to direct the project, also left the show.
At the time, during a break in filming, a HBO Max spokesperson said: "As [Dune: The Prophecy] has entered a pre-scheduled hiatus, there are some creative changes being made to the production in an effort to create the best series possible and stay true to the source material."
Dune: Prophecy will arrive on Max later this year.
