Duluth police investigate fatal stabbing, report of gunshots

Apr. 12—DULUTH — Police are investigating the death of a woman early Friday morning following a report of gunshots and a stabbing.

Duluth police responded to the 100 block of West First Street around 2:15 a.m. and assisted an injured woman with a stab wound to her neck, according to a news release from the Duluth Police Department.

The woman was transported to a local hospital by Mayo Clinic Ambulance but died later. A short time later, a man arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. However, he left the hospital against medical advice, according to the release. Police said it is unknown if the man's wounds were related to the stabbing incident.

Police are withholding the victim's name until her family can be notified.
