Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Welcome Baby Boy in London

THREE’S A CHARM: The third royal baby wait is over: On Monday, Kensington Palace announced that the Duchess of Cambridge had given birth to a baby boy, the Prince of Cambridge, just after 11 a.m. GMT in London. The prince weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and his name is yet to be revealed. Prince William was present for the birth.

The duke and duchess posed with their newborn — swaddled in a G H Hurt & Son shawl — and greeted the public on the steps of the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington at 5:52 p.m., the same hospital where Prince George was born in 2013 and Princess Charlotte in 2015.

She wore a red Jenny Packham dress. A favorite designer of the royal, the duchess wore her printed dresses when both Prince George and Princess Charlotte were born.

Earlier that afternoon, Prince George — who arrived in his Thomas’s Battersea school uniform sweater and shorts — and Princess Charlotte — in a blue printed dress — visited St. Mary’s hospital to visit their new brother.

Kensington Palace tweeted that The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.

Earlier today, the duchess was admitted to the hospital and was in the early stages of labor.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s little brother is fifth in line to the throne after the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte. He is the Queen’s sixth great-grandchild. His royal title will be Prince of Cambridge.

A formal notice of the arrival of the newborn prince was posted at Buckingham Palace and a Union flag was flown at the Palace while a State Standard flag was raised at Windsor Castle.

The duke and duchess created a website for the third child titled ‘The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third baby’.” The website features images of the royals and the tweet posted by Kensington Palace on Twitter announcing the couple was expecting in April. The royal couple will celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary on April 29.

The British bookmakers have taken bets on the royal baby name. Ladbrokes said the odds are on Arthur for the name, followed by James, Albert, and Philip.

The duchess was last seen in public during Easter service at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Her last official engagement — which marked the start of her maternity leave — was in March where she attended a SportsAid event at the Copper Box in Olympic Park in Stratford.

The baby’s new arrival comes just weeks before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding on May 19.

Last week, the royal family celebrated Queen Elizabeth II’s 92nd birthday at a concert in Royal Albert Hall where Kylie Minogue, Sting, Tom Jones and Shaggy performed for the monarch.
