DU contractor to begin restoring city fire hydrants

Feb. 15—A Decatur Utilities contractor is scheduled to begin restoring fire hydrants throughout the city starting Friday.

A majority of hydrants to be restored are in areas north of the Tennessee River, east of the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge and south of Decatur along U.S. 31.

This work, scheduled to be complete on Feb. 24, is part of DU's plan to sustain the appearance and operation of the city's hydrants.

Drivers need to be aware of utility workers, equipment and traffic control/safety devices in the work areas around hydrants being restored.
