Driver indicted in connection with crash that killed 2, injured 2 in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was arraigned last week for allegedly causing a March crash on Main Street that killed two people and injured two others in another vehicle, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Officials said Devin M. Ford, 23, was allegedly driving northbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed without headlights on when he struck another vehicle just past midnight on March 21 at the Humboldt Parkway intersection.

The four occupants of the other vehicle were all taken by ambulance to ECMC, where the vehicle’s driver, 27-year-old Nasir Musazada of Buffalo, and the rear driver-side passenger 26-year-old Morgan Ehrenbeit of Ohio, were pronounced deceased.

The other two passengers in the vehicle, both 31-year-old males from Ohio, were hospitalized for their injuries. The vehicle was a Lyft transporting the passengers from an event at Riverworks.

After the crash, officials said Ford was taken into custody as he attempted to climb out of the vehicle. He was transported to ECMC for evaluation.

In all, Ford was charged with:

  • Two counts of second-degree murder

  • Two counts of second-degree manslaughter

  • One count of first-degree assault

  • One count of second-degree assault

  • One count of third-degree assault

Ford remains held without bail and he is scheduled to return to court on May 29. He faces a maximum of 50 years to life in prison.
