Driver found with fraudulent ID faces misappropriation of found property charges

(KRON) – A Fremont resident was found with a fraudulent driver’s license in a traffic stop, according to the Colma Police Department.

Colma officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle in the 3600 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard due to an expired registration at 6:59 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers asked the driver for his driver’s license. The driver handed the officer an out-of-country passport booklet. According to police, the officer saw a California license and the driver insisted the license was not his. The officer recognized the license was fraudulent.

The counterfeit license had a photo of a different man and a name and birthdate that did not match the passport the driver provided, police said. The fraudulent license also did not have a stamped perforated California state symbol. The driver’s license number was not found in DMV records, according to police.

The driver was detained and searched. Officers found a credit card not in his name was located in his wallet.

The driver was identified as 26-year-old Fremont resident Alberth Ninorojas. He admitted to utilizing a fraudulent license to drive.

Ninorojas was arrested for possession of a fake ID and misappropriation of found property. He was issued a citation and released on his promise to appear in court.
