Driver flees after hitting 2 officers, multiple bystanders during party at Durham park, police say

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Multiple people are hurt including two officers after a driver hit them during a party on Friday night, according to the Durham Police Department.

At about 8 p.m., officers said they were called to Forest Hill Park in reference to a party after closing hours.

When they arrived, they said they saw someone driving a vehicle carelessly and recklessly surrounded by a crowd.

The driver tried to flee as officers approached, and hit multiple bystanders, two officers and parked vehicles, according to the police department.

Police said the driver crashed the car and fled the scene.

They said the bystanders and officers suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Investigators continue to search for the driver.
