Driver who fled multi-vehicle crash on I-80 apprehended

STROUD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The driver of a tractor-trailer involved in a multi-vehicle crash that slowed traffic on Interstate 80 in the Poconos on Monday afternoon was taken into custody Tuesday.

According to police, the crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. near the Bartonsville Exit, causing a traffic backup for miles.

Police say a tractor-trailer was involved in the crash and a state police helicopter had to be used to look for the driver, who fled the scene.

No one was seriously injured and the identity of the driver has not been released, and there’s no word on if charges have been filed.

The driver remains at the Monroe County Correctional Facility.
