Driver crashes into tree, attacks 73-year-old man husking corn, Wisconsin police say

A 73-year-old man who was about to husk some corn at a picnic table tried to help a driver who had crashed into a tree, but ended up getting punched in the face, according to police in Madison, Wisconsin.

The suspect, who is facing a charge of battery, is being sought by police.

The driver had crashed his car in a residential area near a lake in Madison on July 17 — knocking over a pine tree — as the cornhusker watched from the picnic table outside his home, the police report says. The man approached the driver and asked if he driver needed help, police said. That’s when the driver got out of the car, quietly walked up to the man and hit him in the face, police said.

The suspect then began to kick the man who was able to get away, police said.

The suspect then got back in his damaged car and fled, police said in the report.

A neighbor witnessed the attack and called 911.
