Downtown Tyler roads close for Red Dirt Music Festival

TYLER, Texas (KETK) – The City of Tyler announced that parts of downtown are being blocked off on Friday through Saturday for the Red Dirt BBQ and Music Festival.

According to a release, Broadway Avenue from Erwin Street to Ferguson Street, including the left turn lane for the East Ferguson Street and Broadway Avenue intersection, will close starting at 10 a.m. on Friday.

KETK’s Ashlyn Anderson was at the festival on Friday and spoke with John Borgstedt, pitmaster of BBQ & A Prayer.

“This just it’s a milestone. It really is, it’s something that everybody wants to get to, so to be able to be invited to something like this, this is truly an honor,” said Borgstedt.

The city also said that portions of North College Avenue, Ferguson Street, West Erwin Street and Broadway Avenue near the Downtown Tyler Square will close starting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Additionally, officials said that parking spaces around the square will be blocked off starting at 6 a.m. on Friday and that there is free parking available at the Fair Plaza parking garage.

The City of Tyler added that there will be detours in place, and they urge drivers to use caution while traveling through downtown. All the roads will reopen on Sunday.
