There's only one thing Prince Harry goes more bananas over than his new fiancé, and that's the fruit itself. Exaggeration aside, Darren McGrady - the royal family's personal chef - has gone on record documenting the prince's love of bananas, claiming he was obsessed with the caramel banana dessert McGrady once made for him. It's a silly little detail that royal wedding watchers have latched onto since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement, many people speculating they'll ask for a banana cake for the celebration.

The prospect's got traditionalists up in arms (British wedding cakes are historically made from fruit cake), but banana giant Dole is thrilled. The brand calls Mark Allison, its director of culinary nutrition at the Dole Nutrition Institute, a "leading authority" on cooking with bananas, and they're proffering his talents for the soon-to-be-weds. Allison is a U.K. resident himself, so he might be more of a shoe-in for the job than others.

In hopes of cinching the deal, Dole is releasing a series of "congratulatory banana memes," the first of which launched last week. It features a crowned banana, down on one knee, offering another banana a pineapple ring, and it reads, "Congratulations to Meghan and Prince Harry from Dole Fresh! We're going bananas over your Banana Wedding Cake." If the campaign goes the way Peep's ploy to bring Prince Harry into their factory to try s'mores, though, things aren't looking positive for Dole.
