CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Mecklenburg County court documents released on Friday reveal that a Charlotte man arrested in connection to the disappearance of a Belmont man admitted to dumping his body into the trash and failing to notify police of his death.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Andrew Tench, 31, was reported missing on March 25 and last seen in Charlotte. His car was found abandoned in Monroe, according to Gaston County Police.

On Thursday evening, D’Shaun Montrell Robinson, 26, was arrested following an interview with police Thursday, April, 11, and charged with the following:

  • Felony concealment of a death

  • Felony identity theft

  • Felony financial card theft (2 counts)

  • Felony financial card fraud

  • Felony larceny of motor vehicle

  • Financial card fraud (3 counts)

A search was also conducted at Robinson’s home, CMPD said.

Court documents released on Friday revealed that while CMPD was interviewing Robinson he told authorities that Tench was dead. Robinson explained that “he disposed of the victim into the trash and failed to notify law enforcement of the death.”

Records also show that Robinson used Tench’s bank card to make purchases at Dicks Sporting Goods and Target in Matthews on March 25. CCTV footage obtained from both retailers showed Robinson using Tench’s card and driving Tench’s vehicle, a tan Hyundai Elantra with NC tags.
