Doctor Who has revealed the BBC One timeslot and story details for new episode '73 Yards'.

The BBC has scheduled '73 Yards' for its linear premiere on Saturday, May 25 at 6.50pm as a lead-in for a brand new Casualty episode airing at 8.35pm.

As with every episode this season, '73 Yards' will premiere first on Saturday at midnight on the BBC iPlayer in the UK and Disney+ internationally.

Storyline details for the new episode have also been revealed, confirming that The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) will be landing the TARDIS in Wales.

Here's the official synopsis: "Landing on the Welsh coast, the Doctor and Ruby embark on the strangest journey of their lives. In a rain-lashed pub, the locals sit in fear of ancient legends coming to life."

This episode has been written by Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies and directed by Dylan Holmes Williams — who previously worked on the horror series Servant and short film The Devil's Harmony.

The guest cast will be confirmed closer to transmission, but Aneurin Barnard (Peaky Blinders) and Dame Sian Phillips (Silent Witness) are appearing. Recurring guest star Susan Twist is also back, this time playing "Hiker".

Before we get to '73 Yards', Doctor Who returns this weekend with 'Boom', penned by former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat.

'Boom' will see The Doctor having to negotiate the end of an intergalactic war without moving, as he steps on a landmine shortly after arriving on the planet.

The confirmed 'Boom' guest cast includes another appearance from Susan Twist (this time as 'Ambulance'), after popping up throughout Russell T Davies' stories since the 60th anniversary.

Former Hollyoaks star Majid Mehdizadeh-Valoujerdy, Bhav Joshi (Vigil), Caoilinn Springall (Citadel) and Joe Anderson (Twilight) are all confirmed to be guest-starring in 'Boom' as well.

Doctor Who debuts new episodes at midnight on Saturday, airing on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Classic episodes of Doctor Who are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
