DIY 'Stranger Things' cosplay costume stops crowds at Comic-Con
When it comes to cosplay, Stranger Things fans know how to pay homage to their favorite show. But this year at Comic-Con International: San Diego, one fan has taken Stranger Things cosplay to the next level. Keith Takeda used his computer science know-how to become Dragon’s Lair, a choose-your-own-fantasy adventure-like arcade game popular in the ’80s and played by our favorite Hawkins, Ind., kids in Season 2 of the hit Netflix series.
The best part about his costume? You can actually walk up and play the game without paying a single quarter. But fair warning: even Takeda says, “It’s a really hard game to play.” This DIY costume version of Dragon’s Lair consists of PVC pipes, plexiglass, Velcro, some gaming parts, and a tablet.
Inside the convention, Takeda can stand in the middle of the game and push it along the exhibit floor while stopping to take photos with other Stranger Things fans. The Hawaii resident flew to San Diego, Calif., and reassembled the costume in an hour in the parking garage. Talk about mobile fun!

Takeda’s creation is making its Comic-Con debut. He said he plans to fine-tune his costume so he can take it with him to other conventions. So far, it’s been quite a hit with pop culture fans young and old. With another two full days of festivities remaining at Comic-Con, you still have plenty of time to track down the homemade Dragon’s Lair. Your quest awaits!
