Things are heating up for Diablo Immortal, the mobile version of the smash-hit Diablo series, as developer Blizzard Entertainment recently unveiled the 2024 roadmap for the game. Over the course of the year, Diablo Immortal players can expect a new character Class, new game modes and systems, a co-op mode, new quest and dungeon updates, new bosses, and more.

Branded as the 'Age of Unmaking', Diablo Immortal's 2024 roadmap splits the year into four three-month periods with each period seeing the addition of new content to the game.

First up will be the 'Precipice of Horror' major update, which will go live on Wednesday (27 March). This first major update of the year will see the addition of Terror Rifts, Oblivion Pillars, Eternal Equipment, and a Deckard Cain Elite Quest.

Coming up soon from April to June are new Paragon and equipment systems, new Helliquary bosses, and new game modes. This upcoming period will also see the release of a new character Class, though Blizzard has yet to reveal more details on this aside from it being "all new to the Diablo universe".

On 2 June, Diablo Immortal will also be celebrating its second anniversary alongside the 'Cursed Solstice' event. Then, from July to September, the game will see the addition of the first part of the Worldstone Quest and a new co-op mode alongside updates to dungeons and Accursed Towers.

The final period of the year for Diablo Immortal will begin with the 'Hallow's Wake' event. From October to December, there will also be the second part of the Worldstone Quest, a new zone, new Helliquary bosses, and much more. This period will also feature the 'Terror Reigns' event all throughout while the year will close with the 'Brumaltine' event.

The Age of Unmaking kicks off with the Precipice of Horror update

The first major update for Diablo Immortal in 2024 features the additions of Terror Rifts, Oblivion Pillars, Eternal Equipment, and a Deckard Cain Elite Quest.

Terror Rifts presents players with new challenges and are active every day from 8 AM to 2 AM and 6 PM to 1 AM server time. Terror Rift Portals will appear in three zones at random for 20-minute intervals, where players can face brutish monsters in order to acquire Stygian Fragments.

These Stygian Fragments can then be sacrificed to the Stygian Spire to call forth the boss. Slaying the boss will then grant players plentiful rewards, including the new Terror Essence.

Terror Essence will let players take on the Oblivion Pillars challenge. These can be found near where Terror Rifts spawn and are only available on Inferno Difficulty I or higher. Surviving the waves of supercharged monsters will give players the chance to receive Eternal Equipment and other rewards.

Hellslayer Bounties will also be available for groups and solo players on Inferno Difficulty I and above. For the cost of one Terror Essence, players can combine four normal, active Bounties into a Hellslayer Bounty at the Bounty Board.

Upon successfully completing the bounty, players will earn Codex credit and a reward chest with the potential to reward Eternal Equipment.

Eternal Equipment is a new item type that is both the rarest and strongest equipment available in the game so far. These items contain 3 Attributes and 4 Magic Affixes but can only drop from Terror Rifts, Oblivion Pillars, and Hellslayer Bounties.

"The Lord of Terror has set his sights on Sanctuary once more... an invasion is mustering. With a merciless force of fearsome foot soldiers at his back, Diablo seeks to tear away the fabric of Sanctuary. Fiendish wheels are in motion; the Age of Unmaking has begun!" Blizzard said in the blog post revealing Diablo Immortal's 2024 roadmap.

"Don’t allow your home to come under Diablo’s thrall — harness the unrivaled power of new Eternal Equipment to beat back evil. These exquisite demon-vanquishing tools, some of which date back to the Eternal Conflict, can be acquired from various Age of Unmaking activities that release throughout the year."
