Detour route in place through next year as Escambia County bridge replacement takes place: FDOT

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — Some drivers will have to take a detour route through next year as the Florida Department of Transportation announced an upcoming road closure near a bridge in Escambia County.

According to an FDOT release, Interstate Circle will be temporarily closed at the bridge over Eight Mile Creek starting on Saturday, May 26, as crews begin bridge replacement construction activities.

During the closure, drivers will have to take the following detour routes: Pine Forest Road, Longleaf Drive and Wymart Road.

This route will be in place until mid-2025, and signage will be in place to direct drivers around the work zone, according to the release.

Officials say that although the closure is set to be in place until mid-2025, all activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled. For more information, visit the Florida Department of Transportation’s website.
