24-year-old man charged with murder in Whitewater Twp. shooting

A 24-year-old man is under arrest on a murder charge after a fatal shooting in Whitewater Township Tuesday night, court records show.

Cole Hornsby was booked into the Hamilton County jail just before 1 a.m. Wednesday.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in the case at 9 a.m.

One person was found shot dead when deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 5000 block of Kilby Road at around 6 p.m. Tuesday, his arrest report states.

Deputies found Hornsby standing next to the victim and took him into custody, according to his arrest report.

Witnesses told investigators Hornsby pulled a firearm and shot the victim multiple times, the report states.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim Wednesday as 40-year-old Theodore John Black.

Both men live at the location of the shooting, according to the sheriff’s office.
