Denver weather: Cool and cloudy afternoon after morning snow

DENVER (KDVR) —   Denver’s weather features light snow showers mixing with rain by the mid-morning hours, causing some slick spots on the roadways.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 9 a.m. for the northern and southern Front Range Foothills and for the metro area.

People should give themselves extra time if they plan on driving Saturday. Also, make sure to shake off those tree limbs because the snow is very heavy and can cause damage to trees and therefore property.

Weather today: Rain/snow and cool

Snow showers continue to taper off by the mid-late morning hours and make way for more of a wintry mix.

The bit of rain that Denver will see along with temperatures Saturday afternoon in the lower 40s will aid in the melting process. Look for winds to be out of the east between 5-15 mph.

Weather tonight: Drying out, mostly cloudy but foggy

Saturday night brings mostly cloudy and cool temperatures as lows drop down into the upper 20s and lower 30s. Winds will be out of the northeast between 5-15 mph, and Denver could see some areas of fog early tomorrow morning.

Looking ahead: Sunny with much warmer temperatures

Denver kicks off a bit of a warming trend starting Sunday as sunshine and warmer air return to the forecast. High temperatures Sunday will max out in the middle to lower 60s.

Monday brings even warmer temperatures with highs in the middle to lower 70s under partly cloudy skies. There is a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon each day from Tuesday to Saturday, but besides that, above-average temperatures continue to dominate the forecast.
