Denis Leary refused to be interviewed by Matt Lauer

Comedian Denis Leary visited The Talk, and he didn’t hold back his thoughts about Matt Lauer, the Today show host who was recently fired amid allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault. He said unprompted, “I thought he was a creepy, douchie guy from the get-go.”

He went on: “I stopped being interviewed by him on the Today show about 10 years ago, because so he was creepy. … I just got a weird, weaselly vibe from the guy. And I said to my publicist, ‘I don’t want to be interviewed by him anymore. I want to be interviewed by the girls.’”

We checked the videos available on the Today website, and in all of them Leary was interviewed by either the female hosts or a group of hosts that did not include Matt Lauer.

Leary made his opinion very clear, noting one very dubious detail in Lauer’s alleged misbehavior. He said, “When you have a button under your desk to lock women into your office, you know what? Screw you.”
