Demolition on its way for Antioch’s former Hickory Hollow Mall/Global Mall at the Crossings

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — If you’ve called Nashville home for some time, you’ve probably walked through the Hickory Hollow Mall — now known as Global Mall at the Crossings — in Antioch. Back in 1978, this was a magical place for families.

Looking at the mall now, you only see flashbacks of its grandeur. However, Nashville city leaders want to bring back that iconic splendor in a different way.

“If people have been paying attention to the journey, we’ve been doing this now, over the last few years, of creating a plan that the community wants and needs,” District 32 Metro Councilwoman Joy Styles said.

The Global Mall planning study started in 2022 and led to a proposed master plan. There is a rendering of all the proposed projects for the property, but it’s not final.

Styles said the proposal is to demolish the mall’s interior and build a green space and daycare. This is one of the many buildings proposed for the property, but the four anchor buildings will remain intact.

“We’re getting ready to do a request for information, which is part of the RFP process, which is a request for proposals from master developers for the entirety of the site, so what we’re getting right now [is] some information on what costs could possibly be, and the items that the community has come up with, how we fund those,” Styles explained.
