With rain likely for Thursday and Friday, Delaware can expect a beautiful spring weekend with sunshine and pleasant temperatures.

Delaware under coastal flood warning

The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood warning from 11 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday. The warning includes coastal areas throughout Delaware.

About 1 to 2 feet of water above ground level is expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. There is potential for major coastal flooding for areas along the Delaware River. With this type of flooding, some roads may become impassable and vulnerable structures may have minor damage.

Delaware weather forecast for the weekend

Friday will be a mix of sun and rain with the potential for thunderstorms and hail. Highs will range from the mid 60s in the north to upper 60s in the south.

On Saturday, the winds will shift to the northwest at 18 mph to clear out the clouds and bring sunny weather. High temperatures will range from the low 60s in the north to mid 60s in the south.

Sunday will be the weekend's best day. Winds will shift again and come from the southwest at 14 mph bringing warmer temperatures. It will be partly sunny with highs in the low 70s in the north to mid 70s in the south.
