Delaware DPW announces road closures

Apr. 26—The Delaware County Department of Public Works has announced three upcoming road projects.

The department will begin a deck and rail replacement project on a bridge on Doe Brook Road over Downs Brook in the town of Colchester at 7 a.m. on May 6, a media release said. The work should take about three weeks. Drivers should expect intermittent road closures during work hours 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. while work is being done.

The department will close county Route 6 in the town of Bovina to through traffic at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, Wednesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 9 to replace a large culvert pipe. The closure will be between Burns Road and New Road, about 400 feet west of New Road. The road will be re-opened by the end of the day each day. People should seek alternate routes.

The department will close the Lois Ray Memorial Bridge, at Sherwood Road in Delhi over the West Branch of the Delaware River, to through traffic on Tuesday, May 7, at 8 a.m. for general cleaning. The bridge will be re-opened as soon as cleaning is complete. Drivers should use alternate routes.
