Defamation suit against Cowboys owner Jerry Jones dismissed by judge

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has had at least one legal dispute resolved with a 27-year old woman who claims to be his biological daughter.

A defamation lawsuit alleging that Jones and his attorneys portrayed her as an extortionist was dismissed by a judge in federal court on Wednesday.

Alexandra Davis had accused Jones and others of executing a “false and purposeful character assassination attack” on her after she sued him to establish paternity.

Davis contended that she attempted to reach an agreement with Jones outside the public eye. She denied ever demanding money.

Jones and his attorneys said Davis asked whether he “wanted to make a deal” and that she filed litigation after he “declined to pay,” the lawsuit said.

Portions of the lawsuit were later dismissed on Oct. 31, 2023.

Davis’ legal team to amended the complaint and refiled it at the end of November.

The case has now been dismissed.

This comes almost three weeks after a judge upheld a decision requiring Jones to take a paternity test to determine if Davis is his biological daughter.

Jones had appealed a 2022 ruling in a paternity case brought by Davis, who had alleged in a previously separate lawsuit she was conceived from a relationship Jones had with her mother in the mid-1990s.

In March 2022, Davis sued Jones in Dallas County, asking a judge to void a legal agreement she said her mother, Cynthia Davis, reached with Jones two years after she was born.

The 1998 settlement allegedly said Jones would support them financially as long as they didn’t publicly say he was Alexandra’s father — something the married owner of the Cowboys has denied.

Attorneys for Jones say Alexandra Davis has received “millions of dollars” from Jones in her lifetime, according to court documents.
