Decatur man gets 25 years for child sex offense

URBANA, Ill. – A 29-year-old Decatur man was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for sexual exploitation of a child.

At the sentencing hearing last Wednesday, evidence was brought forth that Tevin Ford sexually assaulted three minors at a hotel room in Decatur in September of 2021. Ford pleaded guilty to the offense two years later in September 2023.

The judge also determined at Wednesday’s hearing that Ford had clear intent to abuse the minors from the beginning of the offense.

He will spend the next 300 months in the Bureau of Prisons, with five years of supervised release afterwards. For sexual exploitation of a child, statutory penalties are 15 to 30 years in prison, up to $250,000 in fines, and no less than five years of supervised release.
