Deaths of American Fork couple ruled as ‘undetermined’

AMERICAN FORK, Utah (ABC4) — Police have closed the case on two bodies found in an American Fork home earlier this year during a welfare check after the Utah State Medical Examiner ruled the deaths “undetermined.”

The bodies, identified as Sally and Duane Francom, both 84, were found in January in their American Fork home. Police said the two were married and lived together.

The two were found in “intermediate-to-advanced” stages of decomposition and in different rooms of the home. One of the rooms was reportedly in a state of disarray.

The Utah State Medical Examiner made its ruling due to the degree of decomposition of both bodies, however, there was reportedly no trauma found on either body.

Police also said the medical examiner found no significant traces of carbon monoxide and nothing suspicious in their blood. Both Sally and Duane Francom reportedly were found to have a heart disease.

With little suspicious circumstances surrounding the deaths of Sally and Duane Francom, American Fork Police determined the case would be closed and the investigation would be stopped.
