‘Death penalty and justice’: Dover murder victim’s sister wants suspect executed

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The family of a woman and a 4-year-old child who were murdered in Dover says they want the suspect in their deaths to be executed.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Angel Gabriel Cuz-Choc, 31, stabbed his girlfriend Amalia Cuc-Choc, 36, and her daughter Estrella Pec-Choc, 4, to death on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Sheriff Chad Chronister said his deputies arrested Cuz-Choc after a manhunt that ended near an abandoned farmhouse on Glen Harwell Road.

“He may have been able to outrun the visual sight of the deputies that were out here, but he couldn’t outrun the scent of this K-9,” Chronister said. “The K-9 took us right to him.”

In an interview with 8 On Your Side, Amalia’s sister, Dolores Choc, who resides in Guatemala, said Cuz-Choc kept her sibling from speaking to her family.

Dolores even accused Cuz-Choc of threatening Amalia and her family when she went to the police for help and tried to get away from him.

“A man called me telling me ‘tell your sister to come back with me because if she doesn’t come back then she’ll see … it’s not the first time I’ve killed people … I already have people I’ve killed in Guatemala,’ he told me,” the victim’s sister said.

Dolores and another woman who knew Amalia and Estrella both said the child told them about the abuse.

“I looked at her and saw that she had bruises,” said the local woman, who wanted to stay anonymous. “Her eyes were also very purple.”

Dolores said she wants Cuz-Choc to face the full punishment of the law for their deaths.

“Death penalty and justice for the girl, because the girl has nothing to do with anything he did,” she said. “A child is sacred. He doesn’t have to mess with the girl.”

Dolores said she and her family want to go to Florida to lay Amalia and Estrella to rest, but they don’t have enough money at the moment.

“To get there at this moment we have no capital,” she said. “We do not have anything. Yes, we need fundraising help for her because it is too much. It will cost $12,400. the funeral home is telling me something like that.”

Cuz-Choc was set to make his first court appearance on charges of first degree murder and kidnapping Friday.
