DC Emancipation Day road closures announced

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — D.C. is holding its Emancipation Day Celebration on Sunday, and roads throughout the city will be closed for the event.

D.C. Emancipation Day officially falls on April 16, but officials said that Sunday’s celebration will include a parade, concert and fireworks.

DC Emancipation Day: How to celebrate

The Metropolitan Police Department announced Thursday that the following roads will be emergency no parking on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.:

  • Pennsylvania Avenue from 12th Street to 14th Street, NW

  • E Street from 13th Street to 14th Street, NW

  • 13th Street from E Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

These streets will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.:

  • Pennsylvania Avenue from 12th Street to 14th Street, NW

  • E Street from 13th Street to 14th Street, NW

  • 13th Street from E Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

These streets will be both emergency no parking and closed to vehicle traffic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

  • 9th Street from E Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

  • Pennsylvania Avenue from 9th Street to 12th Street, NW

  • 10th Street from E Street to Constitution Avenue, NW

  • 11th Street from E Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

  • 12th Street from E Street to Constitution Avenue, NW
