Dare County man accused of fatal stabbing

DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — A 21-year-old Dare County man faces a felony murder charge after authorities say he fatally stabbed 43-year-old man on Monday night.

Dare County Sheriff Doug Doughtie says it happened before 9 p.m. Monday. The sheriff’s office got a call at 8:53 p.m. that there was a crash in the 100 block of Bayview Drive in Stumpy Point, and the driver had been stabbed. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Doughtie says his deputies arrested Tanner L. Thrasher after an investigation, and charged him with felony murder. He’s from Stumpy Point.

No other details in the case have been shared at this time. Thrasher is being held at the Dare County Detention Center under an $800,000 secured bond.
