Man injured in domestic dispute ahead of high school's graduation at NKU's Truist Arena

A domestic dispute at Northern Kentucky University left a man injured and led to a brief emergency response by the school Tuesday evening.

At approximately 7 p.m., the university posted on X, formerly Twitter, to report that a "dangerous situation" had unfolded at Truist Arena, which was being used for Colerain High School's graduation ceremony. The university advised the public to take shelter, lock doors and avoid the area of the arena.

However, about 15 minutes later, the university posted two updates, announcing that the situation was contained, there was no further threat to the public and the emergency had ended.

In a statement that was released shortly after, the university said that police had responded to a call about a man with a knife on Nunn Drive on campus.

When police arrived, they encountered three individuals who were on their way to the graduation at Truist Arena when a domestic dispute occurred in their vehicle. None of the individuals involved were graduates, according to the statement.

The man involved in the incident was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to his hands that appeared to have been caused by attempting to grab a knife.

At this point, no one has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
