Dan River student signs to play football at Christopher Newport University

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — One Dan River High School senior is bringing his talents to Newport News and is getting ready to hit the gridiron with the Captains.

Pittsylvania County Schools announced that Jacoby Davis Jr. signed his National Letter of Intent to join the Christopher Newport University football team in the fall.

The district says Davis has exemplified leadership on and off the field. Over the past three years, he has demonstrated versatility and has excelled as a wide receiver, safety, and quarterback.

“Transitioning to the CNU Captains, he will continue to shine as a wide receiver while pursuing a major in Sports Medicine for his academic endeavors,” posted the school on social media.
