DA: Man pleads guilty in connection to Baton Rouge crash killing woman
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A man accused of killing a woman after speeding through a Baton Rouge intersection pleaded guilty, East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore confirmed Monday, May 6.
Darrien Rogers, 24, was charged with manslaughter, aggravated flight from an officer, red light violation and driving on the wrong side of the highway after reportedly driving at a high rate of speed around the North Acadian Thruway on April 30, 2022.
The Baton Rouge Police Department said an officer tried to stop him but he drove off. Police said Rogers drove through the intersection of Fuqua Street while the light was red and hit a 2019 Chevrolet Cruz driven by Sherell Weston, 49.
Baton Rouge police investigating shooting that left teen injured
Weston, a local funeral home director, was killed as a result of the crash.
Moore said that Rogers pleaded guilty to manslaughter and aggravated flight from an officer.
