DA: Charges filed against woman in deadly Ewell’s Bar shooting in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Charges have been filed against the woman accused of killing a man outside of Ewell’s Bar in Fresno.

The DA’s office announced that charges of murder and discharging a firearm have been filed against 26-year-old Domonique Brianne Jones of Fresno for her role in the death of 38-year-old Gilberto Gutierrez of Dinuba on the evening of April 14.

According to the DA, it is alleged that on that evening Gutierrez was shot and killed by Jones outside of Ewell’s Bar in Fresno. The shooting happened during a physical disturbance outside of the bar and police say Gutierrez had been trying to diffuse the situation before it escalated.

The DA says the felony complaint filed in the Superior Court alleges that Domonique Jones committed one count of murder and one enhancement of personal and intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury.

Officials with the DA say Jones’s arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday morning in Fresno County Superior Court.
