DA: Body found near Cross Valley Expressway connected to Carlisle St. death investigation

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Detectives announced the body found behind a Wilkes-Barre hotel is related to the investigation where remains were found buried in the basement of a home on Carlisle Street in the Diamond City.

Police were seen investigating a wooded area along Exit 1 of the North Cross Valley Expressway behind the Host Inn Tuesday afternoon.

Luzerne County Coroner Jillian Matthews, Police Chief Joseph Coffay, and Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce say that the investigation is related to the months-long Carlisle Street death investigation.

Five unsolved missing person cases across NEPA

Police are continuing to work to obtain positive identities for both bodies, each of which had some degree of decomposition.

Police say they are not releasing any more details at this time due to the sensitive nature of the investigation.
