BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Cynthia Giumarra, the coordinator for Project Rescue, joined 17 News at Sunrise to discuss the importance of Red Bucket Day and how the donated funds can be used to help fight against human trafficking.

Project Rescues’ primary mission is to stop human trafficking, raise awareness, and help victims of human trafficking through organizations, Giumarra said.

Second Saturday to take over downtown Bakersfield on April 13

Funds will go directly to Kern Coalition Against Human Trafficking (KCAHT), which is an organization composed of government, non-government, and private individuals directly connected with the National Human Trafficking Hotline.

Kern Coalition Against Human Trafficking is also connected with other agencies working closely with victims.

From taking a heartbreaking problem and turning it into a hopeful action, Giumarra says she will continue to fight against this problem by encouraging locals to stop by these red buckets to help donate.
