New Cumberland County senior community holds ribbon cutting ceremony
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — A ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new senior community was held yesterday to celebrate its opening.
According to Luminest Community Development, they recently unveiled a new affordable senior living community for individuals 62 and older. The newly unveiled Citrus Grove Senior Living can be found on 18 East Orange Street in Shippensburg.
The new Citrus Grove development features a three-story building that boasts 36 one-bedroom units along with 4 two-bedroom units; four of which are fully accessible and one is designed for individuals with hearing or vision limitations.
The new development occupies a 2.294 acre site, and features a multitude of amenities for seniors, including:
Lobby with a coffee nook
Management and Supportive Service offices
Health Care Suite for counseling and health screenings
Conference Room for small groups
Second floor lounge
Two-story community room with a large kitchen
Fitness room
Library
“We’re so excited to bring affordable housing to Cumberland County,” said David Keller, Executive Director of Luminest. “This project is our first in Cumberland County and we hope to have future communities here.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, May 23. During the ceremony, the general contractor for the project Quandel Construction presented a $10,000 check for the new Citrus Grove to purchase equipment and furnishings for the fitness room.
“Our goal at Quandel Enterprises is to lead, make a difference, and build a better future. This partnership with Luminest, the Shippensburg community, and the entire development team has been a great opportunity for us, and we look forward to working with Luminest again in the future to help meet the need for affordable housing,” Greg Quandel of Quandel Construction said.
