CT woman arrested on DUI charge after rolling car over into wooded area

A woman was arrested on a DUI charge over the weekend when she rolled her car over off the road and into a wooded area in Ledyard.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Iron Street just after 12:20 a.m. on Saturday on the report of a rollover crash and found the driver of the vehicle sitting on top of her car, which was on its side in a wooded area off the eastbound side of the road, according to the Ledyard Police Department.

The driver was identified as 34-year-old Megan Gleason of Moodus, police said.

According to police, Gleason was helped off her vehicle by firefighters and medics. She declined medical treatment.

The vehicle sustained major damage and had to be removed by a wrecker.

Police allege that officers could smell alcohol on Gleason’s breath as they spoke to her. She allegedly admitted that she had drank “too much” prior to the crash, police said.

Gleason reportedly failed a field sobriety test before she was taken into custody on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive right.

She was held for four hours and was later released on a $2,500 non-surety bond. She is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on June 6.
