The Croswell-Lexington Board of Education has chosen Croswell EMS Director Tim Niggemeyer to fill its recently vacant board seat.

The board seat opened at the end of April when the board's previous president, Russell Nowiski, resigned from the position. Niggemeyer was appointed on Monday during a special board meeting. He said he submitted an application to the board because he wanted to be a part of making the school district run well.

"I'm glad to be a part of the board and hope to do some good," he said.

Niggemeyer will serve in the seat until the end of 2024. He said he plans to run for reelection in November.

Niggemeyer said he is not coming into the board with any sort of agenda. He said he thinks the school district is doing a good job, and that he wants to continue to help make good economic and operational decisions within the district.

The board also appointed Board Treasurer Mike Noll to serve as board president.
